Since 1981, I have dedicated my life to caring for others. Throughout my career in care service delivery and running a care business, my health record remained almost impeccable. In November 2025, my life changed when I was diagnosed with incurable stage 4 pancreatic cancer and began palliative chemotherapy.
Facing this reality has led me to focus on what I can still give.
Before I leave this life, my wish is to create Rob’s Place – a small seaside retreat designed specifically for people living with terminal illness, and for the carers who support them.
Rob’s Place does not yet exist as a physical place. It is a vision we are working to bring to life through fundraising and support.
Set by the sea, it will offer short respite stays for people who are terminally ill, alongside their carers. A quiet, welcoming environment designed to reduce stress, restore energy and create space for connection during an incredibly difficult time.
The intention is to purchase a small hotel or suitable property by the sea and transform it into a calm, welcoming sanctuary. A place where people facing the end of life, and those caring for them, can step away from hospitals, appointments and daily pressures, and experience rest, peace and meaningful time together.
Rob’s Place would operate as a non-profit charity or social enterprise, with the aim of keeping costs as low as possible. We hope to work alongside social services, councils and other funding streams so that access is based on need, not wealth.
In order to make Rob’s Place a reality, we need to raise the capital required to purchase a suitable property.
Due to my prognosis, traditional mortgage funding is not available to me. Banks are unable to offer finance to individuals with a limited life expectancy, regardless of experience or viability. For this reason, Rob’s Place can only be created with the help of donations, supporters and like-minded individuals who believe in this vision.
Contributions of any size are welcome, starting from just £1.
All funds raised through this page are intended to go towards the creation of Rob’s Place.
If we are unable to raise the full amount needed to secure a property, all funds raised will be donated to a charity whose mission closely aligns with the values and purpose of Rob’s Place. No money will be used for personal gain.
