He began his career at just 16 years old as a Cadet Nurse in Portsmouth, driven by a deep commitment to supporting people at their most vulnerable. Over the decades, Robert has worked across a wide range of care sectors, including learning disabilities, mental health services, children leaving care, and later-life care, building a career grounded in compassion, leadership, and lived experience.

Alongside his practical care experience, Robert has achieved chartered status in both management and housing, reflecting his commitment to professional excellence and ethical leadership. His contribution to the care sector has been nationally recognised, including winning the Great British Care Award for Outstanding Contribution in Social Care (Southwest Region) — a prestigious honour that acknowledges long-term impact, dedication, and service.

In 2019, Robert co-founded Redleif Care with Melissa, built on a clear ethos and value base: that every person deserves outstanding care, dignity, and respect. The organisation was created to deliver genuinely person-centred support services, prioritising quality, compassion, and human connection over systems and process alone.

Within Redleif Care, Robert holds responsibility for financial leadership and HR management, while also working closely with Melissa on the organisation’s strategic direction and business development.

After being diagnosed with incurable stage 4 pancreatic cancer in November 2025, Robert turned his focus towards creating a lasting legacy of care. This led to the vision for Rob’s Place — a proposed seaside sanctuary designed to offer peace, dignity and respite for people living with terminal illness and the carers who support them.

Rob’s Place represents everything Robert’s life and career have stood for: compassion, service, dignity, and care without condition.
